How Much Should I Weigh? How To Find Out If You Are Overweight or Underweight

How much should i weigh ? That is a right question and every body should ask that or know about their weight. Many ppl go thru life without giving in a moment of thought as to how seriously they are affecting their health through ignorance about their weight.

Being either over or under weight is detrimental for your health.Individuals who are overweight put themselves at a higher risk of suffering from conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure. For underweight individuals infertility, osteoporosis and a low immune system making them susceptible to frequent bouts of illness could be major health issues of concern.

So hopefully it is now clear why it is important to know if you are the right weight for your sex, size and build.

The first step towards answering yourself this question "how much should i weigh?" is to Record your height.
The best time to record your height is in the morning as you do get shorter as the day goes on due to natural compression of the spine when upright.
Then Weigh yourself using a bath scale and record your current weight and do some adjustment for the clothing you are wearing ,
subtracting a few pounds for clothing and accessories is advised.

Step two

After you have recorded your height and weight its time now to consult a height and weight chart.

Although this is a very basic method that doesn't take into account your build it will give you an approximate answer to your question.

To calculate BMI, take the weight (lbs) and divide it by height (in). Take the result of that calculation and divide it by height again. Then, multiply that number by 703. Round to the second decimal place.

eg,Weight = 150 lbs, Height = 5'5" (65 inches)

BMI Calculation: [150 ÷ (65)2] x 703 = 24.96

The BMI chart for women is the same BMI used by men, children, and teens. Therefore, there is not a specific BMI chart for women.

A BMI for a person with normal weight is between 18.5 and 24.9.
BMI is an indicator of how much fat you have on your body.
